Our dogs are sure lucky! They eat better than we do.
Watching TV commercials, reading advertisements, and looking at the claims made, we know that we can feed our dogs food that will make them spry, feel younger, be more playful, keep their urinary tract healthy, their poop superior, their teeth white, their breath fresh, their coats shiny, and their eyes bright.
What about me? I want all those things in one bag, too. I'm starting to think it would be better just to buy a bag for myself and not have to think about it anymore. Well, that's CRAP.
How has it happened that the marketing strategists think that we will believe and, more importantly, buy into all these claims? Because it's easier to feed our dogs healthy food than it is ourselves.
We are somehow alleviating our guilt, ignorance, or unwillingness about our own good health by making sure Rover has it all. Somehow, we think that some dry unappetizing looking pellets are better for Fido than a bird or a furry little bunny that he was once capable of catching for himself.
Crap to that. Those things must be full of some magic dust or something. I just can't believe it's that easy, or that keeping our human bodies healthy is about trying to take in every vitamin and mineral in its exactly correct amount every day…. we are desperate.
The answer? Eat fresh, not cooked until it's pulverized, a variety of foods as close to nature as possible, the least amount of additives, chemicals, preservatives, and processing as possible. Do your best. No diet can be perfect without a level of obsession that will take over your life.
Why eat well if all you think about is how to eat well? That's crap.
So, have fun eating new foods….what the heck do I do with THAT can usually be answered on the internet. Or call your mom.
Or you could have dinner with the dog.
ANd that's NO CRAP COOKING.
