Let's slow down a little. When you don't even think about dinner until it's time to feed people, when you grab a bite on the run, when you're using the drive thru more often than your kitchen table…well that's Crap.
I know we're busy, I know we have to work and pick the kids up and go get gas and drop off something at the post office, but sometimes we just have to STOP and say wow, I need to breathe.
The dinner table is a really nice place to breathe. And enjoy a lovely conversation with your family. Remember why it is you work so hard.
Or, maybe not. Maybe your kid doesn't like to sit at the table and eat. Ok, fine, don't eat. Or doesn't like the food you prepared. Ok. Fine, don't eat. (well, there goes that problem).
Breathing again. The process of preparing your meal can be fun. You can involve your kids, or you can work alone. You can gently pet the tomatoes and lovingly wash the greens, pound on the pork chops, sizzle the oil, smell the garlic, all by yourself. Breathe..
I recently did an interview talking about this very subject..incorporating food into your daily life in a healthy and nourishing way. You can hear it at http://www.kdrplive.org. Click on the Mindful Connections tab and scroll down to Daily Living Part 2 (in 3 20 minute segments).
I think you'll enjoy it!
