Empty the Crisper..

They Aren't Crisp Any more

Hey there!  Just had an unexpectedly tasty meal made from all the Crap in my fridge.  You just gotta go for it sometimes. Last time I big shopped (you know, the time you spend $150.00 instead of $40.00 at the grocery store) I got a greens turn on, so I bought chard and mustard and poke. I look in the fridge and they POKE me

We're turning into Crap tomorrow if you don't cook us NOW!  Ok……who else wants to go? Mr. Carrot was about ready to slit his throat, Miss Half of last Tuesday's Onion was weeping,  Sr. Zucchini was lamenting his age spots and the Bok Choy Bunch broke into a sad song about wilting and browning…..oh well. So I chopped them all up (they asked for it). 

The greens I cooked in water about 1/3 up, salt, some sugar….the carrots and Z just poached (actually boiled, but don't tell my students)…..boiled some water with the onion and made rice.  When all was cooked, I drained, added a can (yes a can and that's better than the Crappy tomatoes you get at the store) of crushed tomato, some leftover mushrooms, Colonel  Corn , ginger, soy, steak sauce, au jus, leftover vinaigrette salad dressing, chipotle powder, salt and pepper and stirred 'em all up.

The garnish is 1/2  of a 1/2 of leftover pita bread (I was sharing), some cucumber reaching the twilight of it's life with a little Balsamic Blush on her cheeks, and some Mozarella (the only fresh thing on the plate, but really made Missy Cucumber blush). What about that?

It was delicious and I had leftover Greens For Me! So, clean out your fridge and have some fun!

And that's No Crap Cooking!
